Dogs for Good Since 1988, Dogs for Good has been making life-changing differences for people with disabilities. We support people with a range of needs including physical disabilities, autism, dementia and learning disabilities enabling them to lead more independent lives through the help of trained dogs.
Our assistance dogs support both children and adults to provide practical support, enrich daily life and overcome specific challenges. Our community dogs work alongside a specialist handler in schools and colleges, hospitals and in social care. Over their lifetime, a community dog helps dozens of people to overcome challenges, supporting them to achieve goals such as development of life-skills, overcoming anxiety or engaging with physiotherapy, using techniques known as animal assisted intervention (AAI). Our Family Dog service offers training, guidance and ongoing support to parents of children on the autism spectrum enabling the whole family to benefit from the unique support a well-trained dog can bring.
We believe dogs are good for us and through a deeper understanding about them we can improve and enhance the lives of both dog and owner.
To find out more about the work we do and how you can help us create more life changing partnerships you can do any of the following:
- Book one of our registered speakers to give a talk to your group – this can be delivered virtually or in person when the time is right and it is safe to do so
- Sponsor one of our puppies to follow their progress via regular updates from as little as £5 a month and you are also able to select a free gift - Sponsor a Puppy this could be a perfect gift for your loved ones

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a National Charity that trains dogs to help deaf people leave loneliness behind and reconnect with life. The dogs do this through constant companionship and emotional support, giving the deaf person the confidence to reconnect with their family, friends, and community around them.
Equally as importantly they help by alerting their deaf partner to important and lifesaving sounds like the smoke alarm, alarm clock, doorbell and oven timers.
Their burgundy coats also signal to the public that their partner is deaf making an invisible disability visible.
This combination of practical assistance and lifelong friendship can be completely life-changing.
To find out more about our life-changing work you may wish to:
- book one of our inspirational speakers to come and talk to your group, virtually or in person;
- or get involved by supporting Hearing Dogs through one of their fundraising activities.
For more details on any of the above please visit our website Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.

York and Selby IAPT Service IAPT is a national NHS programme designed to increase the availability of talking therapy treatments recommended by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE).
Here at York & Selby IAPT we offer a range of talking therapies including one to one, group and online therapy.
